PCH receives bronze from EcoVadis
EcoVadis awarded us the bronze certificate in August 2022. How pleased we are to receive this award and see it as an incentive to improve further. This award heralds the next stage of our journey towards becoming a more sustainable company. This article explains the background to the bronze certification and how we will deal with it.
What is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis is currently the largest provider of sustainability rankings for companies worldwide. After a thorough review, participating companies are given a score that they can share with other participants on request. This gives everyone the opportunity to assess their supplier structures.
Anybody interested in getting an assessment has to fill in a comprehensive questionnaire. This covers 4 areas:
- Environment
- Work and human rights
- Ethics
- Sustainable procurement
In this context, EcoVadis doesn’t just rely on what the companies say, but requests written evidence. We are delighted to have been implementing many of the required processes and requirements since we were founded. We often ‘only’ had to take care of preparing the relevant evidence. This has enabled us, for example, to establish a binding code of conduct for all our employees and to assess our suppliers according to the four points.
Where does PCH stand?
We have spent the past few months intensively conducting a detailed review for this assessment. This has resulted in a score that is well above the industry average across all four areas. Our score puts us just shy of the silver certificate.
What are our next steps?
We have no intention of resting on our laurels. On the contrary, the certificate has set many stones rolling with one long-term goal in mind: Silver! EcoVadis has suggested many highly diverse ways to make us even more sustainable. We are currently checking the extent for which we can implement them. We’ve already introduced smaller steps such as the Jobrad bike programme for our employees. However, large-scale steps such as switching to green electricity are currently requiring a little more time.
This is how we are moving towards a more sustainable future, step by step.
Update August 2023: Bronze certification achieved again
Compared to last year, we were able to improve our EcoVadis rating once more. We remain committed to our goal of achieving „SILVER.“
