Season opener for 1. VfL Potsdam at Filmpark Babelsberg
1. VfL Potsdam literally celebrated the start of its first season in the 1st German Handball League in style: Fans and supporters converged on the Volcano at Babelsberg Film Studios on 25.08.24 to welcome the team. Of course, a backdrop like this is bound to produce an action-packed performance: the Babelsberg crew drove the players onto the big stage in small groups using the well-known stunt cars.
New coach Emir Kurtagic as well as sporting director Axel Bornemann got things started. Emir is looking forward to the prospect of maintaining the team’s passion and channelling it accordingly. Axel also indicated that the search for further talent is not yet done with. Could we see a completely new face at the first game on 08.09.?
Elias Kofler and Maxim Orlov were the next to pull up in a jeep. Both spoke about their duties as captain (Elias) and co-captain (Maxim) along with how they plan on motivating the team. There was one thing that could be clearly felt during this and all the other conversations with new and familiar faces: The 1. VfL Potsdam team is brimming with anticipation for the coming season!
A screening of the famous Babelsberg Filmpark stunt show topped what had been a successful event. There was still enough time afterwards to round off the evening with the team over a fresh barbecue.
We can barely wait for the season to finally get underway! The energy and enthusiasm radiated by the team on Sunday evening leaves us hoping for fast-paced and very emotional games!
